Roseburg woman hit crossing street

A 26-year-old Roseburg woman was injured Monday afternoon when she walked in front of a pickup and was hit while crossing a street, Roseburg police said today.

Janine Marie Czernowski was crossing at the intersection of Southeast Washington Avenue and Southeast Pine Street around 1:40 p.m. when she stepped in front of a 1997 Toyota pickup driven south on Pine by John Raymond Doughty, 62, of Roseburg, police said.

Czernowski told officers she did not see the pickup until she was hit.

She was taken to Mercy Medical Center by ambulance, where she was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said today.

Czernowski was cited on suspicion of failure to obey a traffic control device.
