An 18-year-old Roseburg woman is dead after she allegedly lost control of her vehicle on Lookingglass Road Monday evening.

At approximately 6 p.m., deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of Lookingglass Road and Gem Drive for a crash involving a 2006 Chevrolet Impala and a 2010 Dodge 3500.

According to police, the Impala, driven by Maya Peterson, 18, was traveling on Lookingglass Road toward Roseburg when she lost control on the wet roads and skidded into the oncoming lane.

After skidding, the Impala struck the oncoming Dodge truck, causing the car to spin and flip before crashing into a tree and sliding down a nearby embankment.

All occupants of the pickup truck were uninjured but Peterson, the sole occupant of the Impala, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
