The victim of a fatal structure fire earlier this week in Glide has been identified by authorities as 51-year-old Kimberly Marie Down.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, emergency crews responded to the 100 block of Estella Street, Glide, to the report of a fire.

When fire officials arrived, they found the structure fully engulfed in flames.

After the fire was knocked down, crews found the victim in the home. She was declared deceased at the scene and later identified by the Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined by the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office, but no foul play is suspected.

Sheriff’s spokesman Brad O’Dell said the sheriff’s office is typically involved during fire related death investigations.

Anyone with information about the fire can contact the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at 541-440-4471 or dcso.pio@co.douglas.or.us.
