GREEN — A 54-year-old woman shot and killed herself Tuesday morning at her home in Green, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
A caller notified police dispatchers at 10:29 a.m. that the woman had called and texted four times saying she planned to kill herself.
After Douglas County sheriff’s deputies arrived at the home in the 100 block of Santiam Lane, in the River Place manufactured home park, the woman came outside briefly before going back inside. Deputies blocked off the road as they assessed the situation. Neighbors said they heard one shot from inside the home.
The woman, whose name the sheriff’s office has not released, was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured.
A relative of the woman had called the sheriff’s office Monday and asked for a deputy to check on her. The caller said she was concerned about the woman’s use of prescription medication, according to a dispatch report.
