Club News: Scouts collect 12,373 pounds of food in one day

Food collected: 12,373 pounds For more than 30 years, the Boy Scouts have held an annual one-day Scouting for Food drive. Nov. 17, more than 300 local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts joined forces to collect a total of 12,373 pounds of food for distribution to the hungry in Douglas County. The Scouting units in Roseburg and Green took 7,453 pounds of food to the Salvation Army pantry. In Winston, 1,235 pounds were taken to the Winston/Dillard Food Pantry. The Sutherlin and Oakland areas collected 3,685 pounds for the Sutherlin Food Pantry. Some Scouts provided neighbors with a collection bag …
