U.S. Rep. Peter DeFazio has asked a Josephine County judge to dismiss a $1 million defamation suit against him unless Republican Art Robinson can show he has a good case. Robinson filed the lawsuit two weeks before losing this month for a second time to DeFazio in the 4th Congressional District. Robinson alleges DeFazio misled voters and twisted Robinson’s words in campaign billboards in Roseburg, Sutherlin, Coos Bay and Corvallis. DeFazio, a Springfield Democrat, defended the accuracy of the billboards and said the lawsuit was frivolous.
