A transient reported that he was stabbed while he was sleeping Monday night under the Washington Street bridge, Roseburg police said. Doc Waite, 50, said he was asleep when another transient male confronted him around 12:30 a.m. The two got into an argument over the campsite, Sgt. Jeff Eichenbusch said today. The man stabbed Waite after the verbal altercation, Eichenbusch said. Waite ran to a restaurant on West Harvard Avenue and called police. He was transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center.
