DOUGLAS COUNTY: Fallen trees close highway

Oregon Highway 230 south of Diamond Lake was closed today between Mileposts 0 to 23 after numerous trees, some as large as 5 feet in diameter, fell down on the highway Sunday. Crews were working this morning to clear the stretch of highway, which connects Highway 62 with Highway 138 in eastern Douglas County. Crews hoped to have the road open by the end of day today, but could make no guarantees, said Sally Ridenour, a spokeswoman for the Oregon Department of Transportation in Salem. “They’re working hard on clearing the trees today, but there are some really big ones …
