Young giraffe makes public debut at Widlife Safari

WINSTON — Wildlife Safari revealed its newest addition Monday morning, a young giraffe acquired from an Illinois zoo. Miya, a 15-month-old Somali giraffe, a subspecies native to that country, joined three older male giraffes at the animal park in November. She appeared in public for the first time Monday. She was transported to the safari from Illinois and is the second female giraffe that Wildlife Safari has had. Another female giraffe was at the park for three years, but did not work out.
