Neighbors: Roseburg boot-maker continues father’s trade

The pungent smell of leather permeates every corner of Bill Clemons’ shop. Making shoes is fragrant work, the owner of Clemons Boot Co. said. “Sometimes it smells like glue, sometimes it smells like rubber when you sand the soles,” he said. Clemons, 52, of Winston has been making boots for 34 years. He fashions leather cowboy and work boots four days a week at his shop in downtown Roseburg.
