An autopsy is scheduled today on the body of Walter Ray McKelvey, 26, who died Sunday evening while in custody of Douglas County sheriff’s deputies following an incident outside a Canyonville grocery store, authorities said. Toxicology tests also will be conducted to determine whether drugs or alcohol were present in McKelvey’s system, standard procedure when an autopsy is performed, said Sgt. Jeff Eichenbush, spokesman for the Roseburg Police Department, the lead agency investigating McKelvey’s death.
