She and Keith spent many hours fishing for halibut and salmon in the Pacific Ocean. During the summer her grandkids would take turns flying to Alaska to visit. Keith and Barbara found great joy in taking the kids fishing and showing them their adopted state.

Barbara was an avid quilter making many quilts for family and friends and was working on one for her grandson, Bill, at the time of her death. She also did a lot of embroidery, giving beautiful embroidered pillow cases to friends and family.
