David Von Drasek died at his home in Roseburg, Oregon, on May 7, 2018, following a long illness.

He worked as a gunsmith in Roseburg for over 40 years, first at the Surplus Center and later out of his own shop.

Dave was a sportsman, and an outstanding marksman who enjoyed competition. He was an avid music fan, especially of the blues, and a commanding poker player. He went fishing daily when health permitted. He was a devoted fan of the Minnesota Twins. And he continued to lament the end of the state sports betting program, which he had mastered.

Dave was born on July 5, 1951, in Mankato, Minnesota, and grew up there. He prepared for his career as a gunsmith by attending the Colorado School of Trades in Lakewood. He worked as a gunsmith in Connecticut, Kentucky, and Tennessee, before moving to Roseburg in 1976.

He married Patti Corcoran in 1977. Patti preceded him in death in 2006.

He is survived by his son, Jacob of Roseburg; his daughter, Elizabeth of Peshastin, Washington; as well as brothers, Paul and Joe of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Fred of Tallahassee, Florida. His parents, Joseph and Lois Von Drasek preceded him in death.

A memorial service for David will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 21, 2018, at Wilson’s Chapel of the Roses, 965 W. Harvard Avenue in Roseburg.
