Gary Alan Hayes lost his battle with cancer on the night of Monday, April 17, 2017. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. Gary was born on January 18, 1963, in Roseburg, Oregon, to Charles and Dolores Hayes. He called Oakland, Oregon, his home for 54 years. Gary was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and trusted friend.

Gary Hayes was a friend to many and known as someone who put others first. His interests and expertise followed him in every aspect of his life. Whether it was working on cars, computers, or some other repair, he was the go-to guy; always eager to help out. He was a lover of good music, the outdoors, online gaming, and movies. When he wasn’t fixing things, he enjoyed driving through the mountains, fishing at the Oregon coast, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Tamara Hayes; daughter and son-in-law, Shawna and Rick McKim; brother, Butch Hayes; sisters, Arleen Hayes, Oral Ryan, Helen Hayes, and Wanda Bruce; as well as nieces and nephew, Crystal Hayes, Chuck Hayes and Haley Hooks; and great niece and nephews, Shane, Latasha and Christopher Hayes.

Gary had a heart of gold and no words can express how much he will be missed. We will always cherish the memories and he will forever be in our hearts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dolores; and his brother, Darrel.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. at the Calapooia Community Club (behind the Historic Calapooia Country Church), 141 Scott Henry Road, Oakland, (2.5 miles west of Sutherlin.) Memorial donations may be made to: The Community Cancer Center at 2880 NW Stewart Parkway, Suite 100, Roseburg, OR, 97471 or online at: www.cccroseburg.org
