On Saturday October 8, 2016, Jim passed away with his family by his side. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on December 23, 1944, to Delbert Lewis Ames and Marie Elizabeth DeVaul.

He struggled with illness all of his adult life and always kept his sense of humor no matter how he was feeling. He was very kind and loving and an inspiration to all who knew him. He loved to fish and hunt starting when he was very young. He fished the North Umpqua for summer steelhead and was happiest when he could share his catch with friends and family. He would be out at dawn every hunting season hiking the woods looking for that special buck. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He leaves behind his wife, Marlene; daughter, Sheri; grandsons, Christopher and Anthony; great-granddaughters, Hadley, Presley and Eska.

Service will be held at Taylor's Family Mortuary on Saturday, October 22, 2016, at 11 a.m.
