JD Ray passed away peacefully on Friday, October 14, 2016. JD was born in Chattanooga, Oklahoma, on February 21, 1929, to John and Mary Ray. He joined the Air Force after high school and then settled in San Diego, where he had spent most of his childhood. JD worked for the Southern California United Food & Commercial Workers Union for several years before joining the Ironworkers Union Local 229 where he retired.

JD was preceded in death by his oldest son, Mark Ray; his parents, John and Mary Ray; brothers, Travis, LaVerne and Herman; sisters, Evelyn Laport and Gladys.

He is survived by his sister, Gert Gilbert and husband Frank; daughter, Gail Young and husband Charlie; son, Clark Ray and wife Renee; grandsons, JD Ray, Gabriel Ray, Marcus Ray; granddaughters, Andrea Mullin and husband James, Shawna Ray-Mihan and husband Jonathan, Caitlyn Wright and husband Patrick; great-grandchildren, Faith, Cassidy, Katheryn Mullin, Makayla, Troy, Dameon, Christian Woodrum and Taran Wright.

JD will be missed by all that knew him. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to all the staff at Callahan Ct for their special care during the past year.

A private family memorial will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016. Arrangements made through Pearson's Funeral Home.
