Riley Flury Rappe’, age 34, died May 22, 2017, from an accidental drowning.

Riley was born May 15, 1983, in Roseburg, OR, and graduated from Glide High School. He was a lifelong Glide resident. He worked as a millwright and mechanic at Douglas County Forest Products.

Riley was a devoted father and loving husband that enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. His laid back and non-judgmental demeanor made all feel welcomed as a friend. He loved life and lived it to the fullest.

Riley is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart of 18 years, Mandy; son, Reed (9); daughter, Sage (6); mother, Vicki Rappe’(Coy Staten); father, Steve Rappe’; grandparents, David and Susan Flury, and Peggy Vossen; sisters, Alicia Walker, Elle Rappe’ and Andi Rappe’; and brother, Stephen Rappe’; father and mother in law, Allen and Deanna Gilbert; brothers and sister in law, Chad and Tiffany Gilbert, Aaron Gilbert; aunts and uncles, Karen and Steven Prowell, Skip Rappe’, Peggy Stephens-Taylor, Kathy Flury, John Flury, Debbie Hall-Flury, and Doug Dozhier; great-aunt, Ann McDonald; nieces and nephews, Reaghan and Shiloh Gilbert, Justice Ortegon, MJ Holcomb; and numerous cousins.

Riley was preceded in death by his grandfather, Merle Rappe’.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 25, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the Glide Community Center. Private interment will be held at Oak Creek Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Cody Brown, Chad Gilbert, David Dozhier, Steve Price, John Flury and Mike Welch. Arrangements are by Taylor’s Family Mortuary. Donations can be made to the Douglas County Search and Rescue.
