Sheramy Nell Barry died on September 1, 2018, at the VA Hospital in Roseburg.

Sheramy was born in Klamath Falls, Oregon, on December 16, 1951, and spent her early years in Lakeview. Her family moved to Roseburg in 1960, and she graduated from Roseburg High School in 1970. She joined the US Navy in 1976, and was stationed in Japan.

A life-long student, she attended the U of O, Oregon State, and the University of Nevada. Her degrees included Archaeology and American Studies. While pursuing her Archaeology degree she spent a summer in Paisley on a dig at the Paisley Caves. Her favorite job was teaching English language skills to non-English speakers.

Sheramy loved traveling and the great outdoors and always had her walking stick ready to go. She enjoyed many kinds of crafting and had a project going at all times. Talking with friends was one of her great joys and she adored family gatherings.

Sheramy had lived with cancer for the past several years, but it recently metastasized throughout her bones. Her family and friends will miss her quick mind, her vivid imagination, and her wacky sense of humor.

She is survived by her beloved son, Breaghn Bushman; her sisters, Cathlin Barry, MollyKathleen Barry, and Leigh Van Sickle; her closest cousins, Jay Arment, Judy Maniates, and Laurelle OHara; her Aunt Nellie Heringer and her Uncle Lloyd Post; and her dear friends, Carla Cameron, Carmen Juarez, and Judi Sanders.

A memorial service will be held at St. George Episcopal Church, 1024 SE Cass Ave., on September 13, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local animal shelter or to Umpqua Low-Cost Veterinary Services, in remembrance of Sheramys Pekingese, Ming.
