It appears that the massive tax cut at the federal level is not producing offsetting revenues through growth that was expected. Now the Senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell, is talking about cutting entitlements. Namely Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

I have a better idea. Why doesn't he propose massive reductions in Congressional pay and benefits.

Their pay could be cut 40 percent and their staffing by 30  percent. They should pay 100 percent of their insurance cost. They could not get matching 401K funds and also be required to only travel home once each month, working at least 21 days in Washington, D.C., and get no Federal retirement. I am sure that there are other areas that they could cut with themselves as well.

If that doesn't fix the problem, then we could go into corporate entitlements and tax loopholes

This has been the GOP's plan since these plans were implemented with FDR and LBJ. How many of you old people who receive these benefits are members of the GOP? Why do you continue to belong to a party that doesn't think you should receive these benefits that you paid into?

This doesn't even cover the Affordable Care Act of the previous administration. A lot of people don't want to get rid of that now, but the GOP has been trying since it became law. Do they really care about the people?
