"Life is short and then …" No question, that statement is why my husband Bill and I are proud to support Alek Skarlatos for county commissioner. This county is at a pivotal point. I have had the privilege to work as a volunteer side by side Alek for the last few months. As a former CEO and presidential appointee, I look for qualities essential to leaders. In my humble opinion, Alek has the judgement, energy, integrity and the basic DNA to make the tough decisions needed to lead us into the future. Alek also has the humility to listen and learn — admirable values lacking today in politics.

We realize some of our friends know his closest opponent well (closest, depending on whose poll you accept). We respect you for supporting a friend. What we would hope is that the negative hit tactics that have resembled state and national races stop. We are a community here in Douglas County, and we would attest that Alek loves and is committed to serve our community. High-paid consultants might suggest otherwise. As volunteers on Alek’s campaign, we support Alek because he will continue to rise above. As a woman in traditional industries, and a husband who supported that dream, we ask you to consider voting for Alek Skarlatos as your county commissioner. He is an independent thinker, not beholden to anyone. Refreshing is it not?
