I am writing and expressing my opinion about the "Christmas Spirit" in Roseburg and Winston — or the lack of. The weather isn't cooperating any, but the cities are not decorated like they have been in the years past.

No candy canes on the lampposts. Harvard, Stephens and Garden Valley are missing the Christmas spirit I was raised with from the 1960s on.

What's up with that? Myrtle Creek can have a light parade and we can't even reuse decorations. Roseburg: If we want to support our local economy, we need to start with making our cities look as much as like Christmas as we can so people will spend more money. Just something to think about.

Roseburg has been dismal for a long, long time. It isn't money, either - it's attitude.
