I am not a letter writer to The News-Review. I also do not think of myself as an angry person. However, I am really angry and frustrated with the recent decisions made by our current Republican candidates, Gary Lief and Dallas Heard, to not show up at the League of Women Voters forums.

I and all voters are entitled to the opportunity to hear from the people wanting to represent us at the state government level. The LWV forum has traditionally been the venue where vital, fair and reasonable questions would be asked of both parties' candidates, giving the voter an opportunity to hear and make decisions based on the candidates' views.

Are Mr. Lief and Mr. Heard so sure of my vote and others that they do not need to talk with us? Is it possible that because they are both running against women (Megan Salter for House and Shannon Souza for Senate) that they think they can automatically win? I do not understand what their reasoning could be.
