No longer a Republican

The party that has claimed to represent family values and Christian ethics has become the party of obstruction and hateful rhetoric, pursuing its narrow-minded agenda — reproductive issues and more wealth for the wealthy — without any thought of the good of the majority. It has treated the president with disrespect and contempt.

He has more intelligence and moral strength and Christian values than any of them. They’ve promoted outrageous conspiracy theories against Clinton for decades and against Obama for eight years. They couldn’t stand that we elected a black president (but they’re not racist) and God forbid that we elect a woman.

Trump appeals to the reason-challenged and factually-impaired so-called Christians (who obviously don’t know Christ’s teachings) the racists, some paranoid gun owners and the misogynists.

Here is our president. From early childhood a rich bully; bailouts from daddy, multiple bankruptcies; thousands of lawsuits; hiring undocumented workers and paying them little with the threat of deportation if they complained; dealings with Russia (to whom he may owe money). He is a narcissist, misogynist, pathological liar, racist, sex predator, accused child rapist and has a history of intimidating, harassing and threatening anyone who disagrees with him. He has belittled the disabled and insulted most of the GOP establishment. But those power-hungry ego-maniacs didn’t have the guts to stand up to him.

He has never done anything for anyone other than Trump. His campaign aides from Pence to Bannon to Giuliani and Conway are all outrageous liars.

In 2012, Trump was against the electoral college but loves it today — could that be because Clinton got over 2 million more popular votes than he did?

To paraphrase H.L. Mencken, “No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the people.”

To quote Mencken, “On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”

America has always been a beacon of hope and light in the world. Not anymore.

Today I am not proud to be an American. God bless the world and God help us.
