The Greater Douglas United Way is setting a more modest goal for its 2012-13 campaign after fundraising efforts fell short last year. The chapter’s new director, Bryan Trenkle, said this year’s goal will be to raise $675,000. The chapter set a goal of $800,000 last year, but only collected $550,000. The previous two campaigns were more successful, raising $902,481 in 2010 and $844,000 in 2009. The United Way will kick off its campaign with a breakfast Sept. 5 in the Umpqua Community College student cafeteria and a golf tournament the following day at the Roseburg Country Club.
