SUTHERLIN — Carson Murphy heard the claps and cheers from the crowd gathered Saturday morning at Central Park for the finish of the sprint division of the Umpqua Ultimate Triathlon. The 14-year-old Roseburg High School freshman, headed for second place in the sprint division, started running faster but soon realized that was a mistake.
