SUTHERLIN — Carson Murphy heard the claps and cheers from the crowd gathered Saturday morning at Central Park for the finish of the sprint division of the Umpqua Ultimate Triathlon. The 14-year-old Roseburg High School freshman, headed for second place in the sprint division, started running faster but soon realized that was a mistake. Thirty yards from the finish, Murphy began throwing up and he stopped. Friend Jesse Sadler, 17, who was running right behind Murphy, didn’t hesitate.
