Crater handles RHS in SWC football opener

CENTRAL POINT — In a nutshell, it wasn’t Roseburg’s night. Crater ended a 13-game losing streak to the Indians in their football series Friday night, whipping Roseburg 34-14 at Dutch Meyer Field in the Southwest Conference opener. The Comets, improving to 1-2 on the season, last beat Roseburg in 1994. The Tribe fell to 1-2. Senior quarterback Chase Mackey passed for 165 yards and ran for 107 yards and a touchdown for Crater, which took a 21-0 lead on the Indians midway through the second quarter.
