Umpqua men have new pieces, new plan for 2012-13

WINCHESTER — Having Coleton Baker was a nice luxury for the Umpqua Community College men’s basketball team. Having a full team again is much nicer. Without question, the best part about turning the calendar for the Riverhawks was returning to an even playing field. Academic ineligibilities knocked their roster down to eight players and led to a 9-16 season in 2011-12. Twelve freshmen have joined returning sophomore Jared Knox and Zach Ginter to make for a bench that is once again stocked with warm bodies. “With eight guys, we didn’t have the energy to be constantly pressuring people,” Knox said. …
