SPRINGFIELD — The Roseburg High softball team got its season off to a successful start Thursday against an improved Thurston club. The Indians scored all of their runs in the first three innings and defeated the Colts 5-1 in a nonleague game. Seven Roseburg players collected hits in the contest, led by sophomore Jacey Conklin’s 3-for-3 performance. Baylee Wyscaver and Megan Larkin stroked doubles. Sydney Reynolds, Allyssa Hunt and Conklin knocked in runs. Senior right-hander Makinna Akers picked up the decision, allowing eight hits and one earned run.
