NEWBERG — The George Fox University football team will recognize three former Douglas County high school players Saturday on senior day before a Northwest Conference game against Pacific Lutheran.

Seniors Brad Lander (Roseburg High), Jake Heverly (Roseburg) and Matt Thompson (Camas Valley) will play their final college games at home.

Lander, a wide receiver, is the Bruins' leading pass catcher with 30 receptions for 471 yards and six touchdowns. Heverly starts at safety and has made 26 tackles. Thompson, a reserve linebacker, has contributed on special teams.

No. 23-ranked George Fox is 6-2 overall and 4-1 in NWC games, its lone conference loss coming to No. 8 Linfield, 12-6, in McMinnville Oct. 21. The Wildcats (6-1, 5-0) lead the NWC.

Kickoff Saturday is set for 2 p.m.
