Umpqua Community College’s Sawyer Myres finished second at the 31-team Clackamas Open on Sunday in Oregon City.
Myres fell to Shonn Roberts of Providence, Montana, in the first-place match of the 149-pound bracket in 1:30, but defeated his other three opponents.
Myres received a first-round bye, but won a 10-0 major decision over Central Washington University’s John Dickerson in the second round. In the quarterfinals he won by injury default over Clackamas Community College’s Marty Margolis III. Myres pinned Zachery Sias of Warner Pacific in 1:05 in the semifinals to advance to the title match.
