SUTHERLIN — The Douglas Trojans opened their season on a winning note Wednesday by dispatching Glide, 56-33, in the opening round of the Bill Spelgatti Invitational.

Darian Mitchell turned in a standout performance for Douglas, finishing with game highs of 21 points and 10 rebounds. 

"We showed a few rough spots out there tonight, but really overall I was pleased with our effort," DHS head coach Jason Dickover said.

Lainey Rincon added 11 points and seven assists for the Trojans, while Rachel Hickam and Kaylie Hall chipped in eight each.

McKya Filley scored a team-high nine points for Glide. Jordan Anderson chipped in eight points.
