MEDFORD — The Dr. Randol’s American Legion baseball team opened its season Wednesday with a pair of wins over Cascade Christian in a Class A doubleheader at U.S. Cellular Community Park.

The Crowns took a seven-run lead in the opener and held on for an 11-7 win. A five-run fourth helped them to an 11-4 victory in the nightcap.

“It was good to see us out there,” said Dr. Randol’s coach Noah Miller. “This gives us an idea what we need to work on. I liked how we were able to battle back in the second game.”

Drake Borschowa was the winning pitcher in Game 1, allowing three hits and three earned runs over five innings with six strikeouts and two walks. Sam Guastaferro led the Crowns at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Borschowa was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, while CJ Gale went 2-for-5 with two doubles and four RBIs.

Dr. Randol’s took the lead for good in the second game with three runs in the top of the third and pushed over five more in the fourth.

Austin Luzier was 2-for-4 with a double, triple and three RBIs. Brett Narkiewicz added two hits in three at-bats, including a two-bagger, and knocked in three runs.

Austin Anderson went five innings and got the decision, fanning six.

The Crowns return to action on Sunday, hosting Hidden Valley in a doubleheader at North Douglas High in Drain. First pitch is set for noon.
