DILLARD — Cash Barron, Aiden Hedstrum and Tyrin Quezada came away with main event wins in their respective classes at Sunday's Southern Oregon State Race Series at the Umpqua Valley BMX Track.

Barron, from Roseburg, won the 7-year-olds novice race, while Quezada, also of Roseburg, won the 8-year-old-novice race. Roseburg High School student Aiden Hedstrum won the 15-year-old expert race ahead of Troy Newton, of Grants Pass, and Jake Flury, from Lake Oswego.

A total of 139 riders came to race at the track at 140 Hult Ave. in Dillard, 119 of them in the standard racing classes and 20 in the cruiser class. Douglas County had 22 riders competing for top spots.

Dallen Sorensen, who helps run the track and lives in Myrtle Creek, competed in the 36-40 intermediate class where he finished second in a field of six riders. He was one of 16 Umpqua Valley BMX competitors to place in the top 3.

The race in Dillard was the last stop of the Southern Oregon Series, which also went through Grants Pass, Medford and Klamath Falls and serves as a qualifier for the state race.

The next qualifiers will take place July 8 and 9 at the 36th annual Oregon Governor's Cup.
