DRAIN — The North Douglas Warriors earned the No. 1 seed out of Special District 3 for the Class 2A/1A softball playoffs after beating Monroe 5-3 on Thursday at Howard Hooker Field.

Nicki Derrick batted 2-for-4 for North Douglas (18-4 overall), hitting a double in the second inning and adding a two-run double in the sixth. Amy Dooley and Natalie Draeger were both 2-for-4.

Derrick pitched the win, striking out 19 Dragons. She gave up seven hits.

The Warriors will host a state playoff game on May 24.
