The Friends of the Umpqua Hiking Club plans to hike to Sacchi Beach Oct. 7. The moderate 6-mile beach walk from the Seven Devils picnic area near Bandon to Sacchi Beach below Arago Peak will feature scenic views of Fivemile Point and the Oregon coast south of Cape Arago. Hikers will get a chance to look for rocks and beach-comb on Agate Beach along the route.

The club had originally planned to hike in the Rogue-Umpqua Divide Wilderness, but changed plans due to closures near the Rattlesnake Fire.

The group meets before 8 a.m. at the Douglas County Courthouse parking lot. Participants are expected to bring water, rain gear, lunch and be prepared to share carpool expenses. Information: 541-784-5004.
