Th Friends of the Umpqua Hiking Club will be hiking to the sandy beaches of Calamut Lake on Saturday.

It's a 3-mile hike, with options for further distances, to the cool lake.

The trailhead is about an hour and a half away from the Douglas County Courthouse. The group will meet at the courthouse at 8 a.m..

Hikers should bring lunch, gear, water, and expect to share carpool expenses.
