REEDSPORT — A halftime attitude adjustment took Glide from being in a close game to the Wildcats blowing out Reedsport 42-6 in Friday's nonleague football game.
"These seniors, this is the first time they've beat (Reedsport)," GHS coach Jody Doty said. "That was a goal for us, for the seniors to go out with a win over Reedsport."
Senior Cyller Cunningham scored three touchdowns in the second half and rushed 14 times for 249 yards for the Wildcats (2-1). Glide led 14-6 at the half on the strength of two long plays from Zach Holland.
Holland had an 80-yard scoring run in the first quarter to put the Wildcats in front for good, then snapped off an 85-yard punt return in the second quarter for a 14-6 advantage at the half. Holland finished the contest with 124 yards on 12 carries.
"The first half we came out really flat," Doty said. "We talked about it at halftime and in the second half we came out fired up. Defensively, we did a great job of shutting them down offensively."
Korde Parmenter did rush for 123 yards on 15 carries for the Brave (1-2). Parmenter also had 29 receiving yards.
Glide will host Myrtle Point next Friday before opening Mountain Valley Conference play at La Pine on Sept. 29. Reedsport is on the road to face Corbett next Friday and opens Sunset League action at Gold Beach.
