ELKTON — The Elkton girls basketball team moved on to the Skyline League district tournament with a 49-28 rout of New Hope Christian Tuesday night at Grimsrud Gym.

Hannah Maxwell led the Elks (21-4 overall) with 24 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore Kieryn Carnes turned in a double-double with 15 points and 11 steals. The Elks outscored New Hope 17-7 in the second quarter to take a 10-point advantage at intermission.

Katie McKinney scored 16 points for the Warriors (8-16).

"We were pretty sluggish the whole game," surmised Elkton coach Rob Parker. "We didn't play with any intensity."

Elkton will meet Camas Valley at 2 p.m. Friday in the district tournament at Sutherlin High School.
