SUTHERLIN — The Sutherlin girls basketball team struggled on senior night, losing 48-21 to Junction City Tuesday in a Sky-Em League girls basketball game at the Dog Pound.

Hailey Bruhn and Alexa Norris each scored 12 points for the Tigers (18-4, 8-1 Sky-Em), who remained tied with Cottage Grove for first place in the league standings. Junction City led 28-14 at halftime. Norris hit four 3-point field goals in the contest.

Senior Michala Carpine was a bright spot for the Bulldogs (10-13, 5-4) with a career-high 11 points, hitting three 3-pointers. Abby Masterfield, who only played three minutes due to illness, chipped in six points. Kiersten Haines, Sutherlin's leading scorer, didn't score in the game.

"We didn't come out with any intensity and got what we deserved," said Sutherlin coach Josh Grotting. "I was happy for Michala Carpine."
