OAKLAND — The unbeaten Oakland girls basketball team tuned up for a Mountain View Conference showdown with defending Class 2A champion Monroe, picking up a 59-24 win over Riddle Saturday night at the Nut House.

Grace Witten had 16 points and eight rebounds for the Oakers (14-0, 4-0 MVC), who share the conference lead with the Dragons (13-2, 4-0).

Hadley Brooksby scored 12 points, while Cassidy Jones contributed eight points and five assists for Oakland. Rachel Arts scored 10 points.

Sophomore guard Katarina Schartner scored eight points for Riddle (3-10, 0-4), which trailed 45-10 at halftime.

"We could've been sharper tonight," said Oakland coach Don Witten. "We had moments where we executed and defended pretty well, but had some other moments where we lost our edge. Twenty-two fouls isn't acceptable."

The Oakers travel to Monroe Tuesday.

"Monroe's an outstanding team, but I think our kids will be up for the challenge," coach Witten said.
