OAKLAND — The fourth-ranked Oakland girls basketball team concluded the regular season Tuesday with a 53-28 Mountain View Conference win over Crow at the Nut House.

Junior point guard Hadley Brooksby had 12 points and seven assists on senior night, and Grace Witten scored 12 points for the Oakers (23-2, 12-2 MVC), who finished second behind defending state champion Monroe in the conference standings. Cassidy Jones chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds, and Emily Nix contributed nine points, seven steals and five rebounds.

Whitney Anderson led the Cougars (14-9, 7-7) with 12 points. Oakland led 30-10 at halftime.

"I was happy with our two seniors (Nix and Liz Powell), who both had solid games," said Oakland coach Don Witten. "Our team defense really showed up.

"Getting 20 wins is a great regular season, but to end up 23-2 knocks me out," Witten added. "It's a testament of how resilient and gritty this team has been."

The Oakers will meet Lost River Friday at the MVC tournament at Lane Community College in Eugene.
