MURPHY — The bus ride to and from the game took longer than the contest for Douglas High on Wednesday, as Hidden Valley tore through the Trojans for a 10-0 nonleague softball victory in the first game of a doubleheader.

The Mustangs won the nightcap, 14-4, in six innings.

The Mustangs (5-2) ended the first contest with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning by capping a six-run rally for a 10-run differential. The Trojans (1-6) got a single from No. 3 hitter Hailei Hoyle for their only offense in Game 1.

Douglas had seven hits in the second game. Taylor Watson singled, scored two runs and had two RBIs.

Treena Toth was 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs and three RBIs for Hidden Valley, which took control with a nine-run first inning. Tylor Logue was 3-for-4, while Hannah Hayes was 2-for-4 with a double, triple, two runs and four RBIs.
