LOWELL — Triad was hot from downtown and North Douglas struggled with turnovers in a 60-57 overtime loss in the Lowell boys basketball tournament on Friday.

The Warriors (1-2) fell behind early and trailed by as many as 18 in the third quarter before rallying to take a 57-54 lead late in the fourth quarter. Ethan Roe hit a 3-pointer with 10 seconds left to tie the game and North Douglas' attempt to win hit front iron and fell off, N.D. coach Tyler Vancil said.

Nonetheless, North Douglas had outscored Triad 20-6 in the fourth quarter and still had a chance in overtime.

"Our defense stepped up in the second half," Vancil said. "We went to a different defense and they weren't hitting and we were just grinding.

"We had too many turnovers in overtime. It's a tough loss, but I'm proud of their tenacity to come back for sure."

Micah Young led Triad with a game-high 18 points, while Roe and Weston Heryford both had 13 for the Timberwolves (3-0). Triad made 7 of 17 3-pointers in the contest.

North Douglas will play the loser of the Eddyville-Lowell game at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
