Isaac Salchenberg scored the first goal 30 seconds into Thursday's Special District 6 boys soccer match, setting the Monarchs up for their 8-0 rout of Central Christian at Fir Grove Field.

Tanner Soper, Sam Guastaferro also scored early for Umpqua Valley Christian (8-2-1, 7-2-1 District 6). Later in the half, Aaron Buechley and Devin McLaughlin both scored against the Tigers (0-10, 0-9) on assists from Koby Sewall. 

In the second half, Tyson Sanders came out of the goal to play center-striker and scored a goal for the Monarchs. Isaac Guastaferro and Jacob Mesa each added goals for UVC.

Sanders had four saves in the the first half and Sam Guastaferro had three saves in the second half. It was Sam Guastaferro's first appearance as the goalkeeper.

UVC will travel to Newberg to play C.S. Lewis Academy at 4 p.m. Monday.
