GOLD HILL — Wyatt Smith of Oakland was the top Douglas County finisher in Thursday's 2A/1A Special District 4 boys cross country meet at Valley of the Rogue State Park.

Smith, a junior, finished 13th in 18:12.41. Runners for Bandon and Lakeview automatically qualified for the Nov. 3 state meet at Lane Community College in Eugene as members of the top two teams.

Benjamin Griffin of Trinity Lutheran, Isaac Whitney of Oakridge and Cameron Smith of Rogue River also advanced to the state meet. Bandon's Isaac Cutler won the race in 17:04.86.

Brandon Byrd of Glide finished 25th in 19:16.42 and Brody Best led Yoncalla in 19:55.99.
