COOS BAY — Roseburg’s girls cross country team won the team title at the Prefontaine Memorial 5K in Coos Bay on Saturday.

“I am so proud of how everybody competed,” Roseburg coach Nathan Eckman said. “All 63 of our runners who were able to run today gave it their all and many had season bests and/or personal records. We had a tough week of training and it was great to see them come to compete.”

There were 170 runners in the girls’ race. South Umpqua’s girls team finished 10th, followed by Sutherlin in 11th place.

The boys’ race had 223 competitors and two of Roseburg’s athletes finished in the top 10.

“Zach Traul had a huge day for us, finishing third “after moving up from sixth place with less then a kilometer to go,” coach Eckman said.
