MURPHY — Lexi Schofield and Sidney Alexander each scored 10 points and Brookings handed the South Umpqua girls basketball team a 48-42 loss on Saturday in the Evergreen Tournament at Hidden Valley High School.

The Bruins (4-4) hit six 3-pointers, which S.U. coach Dusty Pires felt was a key factor.

Tayah Kelley scored 15 points and Kyla Pires added 10 for the Lancers (4-5). Skylee Gibson chipped in seven points.

"Brookings is a good team, but I'm proud how hard we fought," Dusty Pires said. "It came down to them hitting some key 3s. I was very happy with our effort."

South Umpqua will face Bandon in the Bandon Tournament Thursday.
