KLAMATH FALLS — The top-ranked Triad Timberwolves conquered Yoncalla 70-22 Friday in the first round of the OSAA Class 1A football playoffs.
Triad (9-1) was led by Eli Builta, who had eight carries for 274 yards and four touchdowns, and Jesse Wolff, who ran the ball for 217 yards on nine carries and three TDs.
"They took advantage of that fast turf field," Yoncalla coach Matt Bragg said. "We have some pretty quick guys, but they just ran away from us. It's not the way we wanted the season to end, but it's well deserved. They are a super good bunch of kids."
Ted Wickman led the Eagles (5-5) with 85 yards rushing and 103 yards passing. Dominic Aguilar rushed for 89 yards.
"We are a relatively young team and have a lot to build on," Bragg said. "We're losing two seniors (Wickman and Nic Johnston) and this is obviously not what they wanted their last game to be like, but they have nothing they can't be proud of."
Triad will play the winner of today's Wallowa-Elkton game in the quarterfinals next week.
