Roseburg High’s girls basketball team fell flat in the second half and succumbed to Corvallis on Friday, 41-27, in a nonleague game at Stewart W. Robertson Memorial Gymnasium.

“We tied it up in the beginning of the third,” RHS coach Dane Tornell said. “It was pretty exciting there for a little bit.”

Jazz Murphy did a good job defending Corvallis standout Ruby Krebs, according to coach Tornell. Murphy scored six points for Roseburg (1-4), which was led in scoring by Samie Bergmann with nine points.

Krebs scored 13 points for Corvallis (2-1) and Elka Prechel had 11.

Roseburg tied the game at 21 with 2:33 to go in the third quarter, but made some bad passes and shot poorly.

Corvallis regained the lead with the help of four 3-pointers in the third quarter.

The Tribe started playing better in the fourth quarter, but was unable to come back.

“There were a lot of tears in the locker room today,” Tornell said.

Roseburg will play at Willamette on Tuesday.

Corvallis 11 7 12 11 — 41

Roseburg 8 5 8 6 — 27
