OAKLAND — Senior Grace Witten had a career-high 23 points that helped Oakland beat Regis 45-35 on Saturday night in a Central Valley Conference girls basketball game at the Nut House.

Cassidy Jones had eight points and 12 rebounds for the second-ranked Oakers (14-2, 4-1 CVC).

"After a tough loss at Monroe last night, we got off to a rugged start. They hit some threes in the first quarter," Oakland coach Don Witten said. "We had to battle back. We're are dealing with injuries, so kids are filling new roles. It's good to pull out the win. It was a dogfight."

Senior point guard Hadley Brooksby did not play due to sprained ankle sustained against Monroe on Friday night.

Oakland led 23-18 at halftime. The Oakers led 39-28 after three quarters to take control.

Oakland plays Jefferson on Tuesday.
